The next stage of the Council's planning for the future of Peckham is beginning. There will be some formal consultation on their proposals next February. In preparation for this, and following Peckham Vision's successful Town Centre Forum meetings, the Council has organised two preview events to give us a chance to give some early feedback. One is on a Saturday day time and one a weekday evening to maximise the chances people can get there.
For anyone keen on a revitalisation of Peckham, and the town centre in particular, these are excellent chances to make a contribution and become better informed. It is really worth going to one of these events:
PUBLIC EVENTS:
- Saturday 27 November 2010, 12.30pm to 3.30pm,
Bussey Building, 133 Rye Lane, SE15
- Tuesday 30 November 2010, 6pm to 9pm,
Bussey Building, 133 Rye Lane, SE15
The Council says: "These will be informal sessions. People may come for part of the time if they wish. There will be displays and information on the key emerging preferred options for the Peckham and Nunhead area action plan (PNAAP). As well as an early opportunity to find out what direction the preferred options are heading in, this is a chance to give initial thoughts and reactions as an input into finalising the preferred options that will be consulted on next year."
Please come to one of these events, and also pass this information on to anyone else you know who lives or uses facilities in Peckham.
To help with the arrangements, if you think you can attend please

Peckham town centre revitalisation
News from Peckham Vision
The Peckham Town Centre Forum has evolved from the work of Peckham Vision and the Rye Lane & Station Action Group. It is bringing together anyone who is enthusiastic and wants to contribute to new thinking and actions to revitalise the town centre.
If you would you like to get actively involved in this work, please email info@peckhamvision.org, so we can link you in.
The Forum's next meeting is on Saturday 23rd October. We will be having a walkabout in the town centre in the morning to work on ideas for improving the street scene, think about the large development sites, and in the afternoon at the meeting discussing those and several other topical issues.
You can see some of the activity, that has led up to this, on the website at
http://www.peckhamvision.org/wiki/Peckham_Town_Centre_Forum

PNAAP (Peckham & Nunhead Area Action Plan)
The Council consultation on the PNAAP is finally happening! Now it covers all of Peckham, Nunhead and most of Peckham Rye as well as Peckham town centre. See here for the Council information www.southwark.gov.uk/futurepeckham
The key document on that page to download is PNAAP consultation report You can get a paper copy from the Planning policy team phone 020 7525 5471 or email: futurepeckham@southwark.gov.uk

The report explains how to do this.

Tues 9th Dec neighbourhood Planning & the PAAP
Has your neighbourhood been affected by planning applications or planning enforcements? If so, you may be interested in a meeting organised by the Bellenden Residents' Group next week, details below. If you would like to come, please email to let us know.

Rye Lane West Neighbourhood
* future developments & planning applications
* local residents meeting with the Council's Planners & Lane Ward Councillor
* start developing our local neighbourhood description
* a first look at the PAAP and how it affects us.
Tuesday 9th December 6.30-8.30pm
in the Bussey building, 133 Rye Lane, SE15
entrance through the passage way, opposite Blenheim Grove.
refreshments & exhibition from 6pm
__________________________________________
In the neighbourhood to the west of Rye Lane, in Peckham, over the years we have had numerous planning applications (and enforcement issues) which have resulted in many objections. After much effort, some of these have been changed. We have often thought that if developers knew before they started what local people think is acceptable, in the form of a 'neighbourhood profile', we might just possibly be able to avoid a lot of upset, effort and time.
NEIGHBOURHOOD PROFILE
We are meeting with the Planners to see if we can produce such a profile for our neighbourhood to the west of Rye Lane, in the forthcoming discussions about the Peckham Area Action Plan (PAAP). This is supported by The Lane ward Councillor Gordon Nardell who will also be at the meeting.
Such a process might be of interest to residents in other neighbourhoods, especially those affected by the PAAP. So if you would like to think about arranging such a meeting for your neighbourhood, you will be welcome to come and learn from this meeting about what might be involved in creating a 'neighbourhood profile', what might flow from that, and from our first look at the PAAP and how it affects us in our neighbourhood. Some of this might have relevance in your own neighbourhood.
FURTHER INFORMATION
The PAAP (Peckham Area Action Plan) is a very important Planning development which will establish the new future planning policy for Peckham. For information about the PAAP, please see:www.southwark.gov.uk/futurepeckham
Further information on some issues raised for the future of Peckham town centre, a core part of the PAAP, see www.peckhamvision.org
